The Mane Event
The Mane Event is a public arts celebration, supported by Leadership Wichita Falls, Class of 2007. It is patterned after similar successful projects in other cities where large fiberglass animals are designed and decorated by local Wichita Falls artists and placed throughout the sponsoring cities…like the longhorns in Southlake, the horses in Amarillo, the pigs in Little Rock, and the cows in Chicago. It’s a project whose goal is to fund improvements and needed equipment for Patsy’s House and Faith Mission, and boost community pride through Downtown Wichita Falls Development, Inc. The last public viewing will be on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Those who are interested in buying Mane Event Merchandise: They are available at Somewhere in Time Antique Mall, the Wichita Falls Museum of Art, and even online! The Mane Event Gala & Auction itself will be held on the same day, Saturday March 7, 2009.
The City of Wichita Falls Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Hook Line and Sinker will host this fun-filled event for kids 16 and under. There will be prizes awarded in 3 age divisions: 2-7; 8-11; and 12-16. Participants should bring their own fishing poles and bait, however, a limited number of poles will be available to borrow from Parks & Wildlife on a first come, first served basis at the event. The Kid Fishing Rodeo event will be held at the Plum Lake, 1702 Sheppard Access Road on March 7, 2009, 10 am to 12 pm. For more information please call 940-761-7490.
WWI-Era Jenny Biplane Demo
It’s the first Saturday of the month of March, and history comes to life once again with the flight of the WWI-era Jenny biplane. Artifacts in the museum pay tribute to the airmen who trained at the Call Field Army pilot training base, rides in the 1916 Model T staff car, communication demonstrations by carrier pigeons. The event will be held at at the Call Field Museum at Kickapoo Airport, 4515 Jacksboro Hwy, 10 am to 2 pm.
The YMCA is holding the Zumbathon! On Saturday, March 7th, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Bill Bartley Branch Family YMCA. The theme of the aerobics/dance workout fundraiser is “Ditch the workout. Join the Party!!! Door prizes!”. The YMCA invites everyone – members and non-members alike. Even parents who need to get their child watched over can call in advance for child watch spot. Fused Glass Jewelry

The Kay Yeager Coliseum will be action-packed this week with three ice hockey games scheduled for Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. The Wichita Falls Police Department’s Crime Prevention Officers will offer useful tips on keeping your belongings safe from thieves. During this 90-minute course, you’ll hear from a car burglar that stole the identities of dozens of Wichita Falls residents. This one individual accounted for as much as a half-million dollars in losses.

Miracle League Bingo Benefit Event
The Wichita Falls Area Miracle League and Junior League of Wichita Falls will hold a bingo fundraiser on February 28.
The bingo event will be played from 12:30 to 4:30 pm at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall at 4005 Seymour Highway.
The bingo cards cost $1. The event will also include raffle drawings and a cake walk. Proceeds will benefit the Miracle League, which offers sporting activities for challenged children and teens.
